According to the State Security Service, two operational officers of the Tashkent City Main Internal Affairs Directorate have been detained on suspicion of abusing their official positions and accepting bribes.
A senior operative of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Shaykhantakhur District Police Department and a senior operative of the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Tashkent City Main Internal Affairs Directorate demanded $2,200 from a resident of the Almazar District. They promised not to prosecute him for 3 grams of hashish found in his possession and had already received $1,000.
They were detained while receiving the remaining $1,200. Another senior operative of the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Tashkent City Main Internal Affairs Directorate was also detained.
The Tashkent City Prosecutor's Office has initiated a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code (Bribery) and applied pre-trial detention. An investigation is currently underway.
