The Tashkent Passenger Carriage Construction and Repair Plant, part of Uzbekistan Railways (UTY), plans to enter the Russian market. This was announced by the company's press service.
According to the report, the enterprise intends to deliver 42 passenger-freight (baggage) wagons to the Russian Federation by the end of 2026.
The company stated that this step will further strengthen the reputation of the 'Made in Uzbekistan' brand internationally.
In recent years, as part of the modernization of railway transport, the plant has launched production of modern carriages. Since 2024, it has been producing carriages of the 'Yangi Uzbekistan' series, which stand out for their design and technological solutions.
The plant manufactures carriages for various segments. New-generation carriages feature a range of passenger amenities, including individual temperature control systems, USB ports, modern lighting, video surveillance, eco-friendly toilets, and mobile device charging capabilities.
On February 25, during a presentation attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, it was noted that a $150 million stage of railway transport modernization for 2025–2026 is underway, involving the construction of freight and passenger carriages, as well as the modernization of carriage-building enterprises within Uzbekistan Railways. The project includes the construction of 954 freight and 70 passenger carriages.
UTY reported that out of the planned 70 passenger carriages, 55 have already been commissioned, and the remaining 15 are scheduled to be completed by the end of the second quarter of 2026.
Additionally, local specialists have successfully tested new EP3D electric train carriages.
