From May 15 to May 24, the VIII International Opera and Ballet Festival 'Tashkent Spring' will be held at the Alisher Navoi State Academic Bolshoi Theatre (SABT). The program will be opened by a gala concert featuring leading soloists from La Scala, Arena di Verona, Metropolitan Opera, as well as performers from the Massimo Theatre in Palermo and the Regio Theatre in Turin, Italy.
During the festival, artists from Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Romania, and Montenegro will perform on the theatre's stage. In the ballet 'Swan Lake', the roles of Odette and Odile will be performed by prima ballerina Yekaterina Pervushina (Russia) of the Kremlin Ballet Theatre. She will appear on stage paired with Ulugbek Olimov, a leading soloist of the Alisher Navoi SABT.
In the opera 'La Traviata', audiences can see representatives of three countries at once. The role of Violetta will be performed by Marika Machitadze (Georgia), soloist of the Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Z. Paliashvili. The role of Alfredo will be played by Florin Guzga (Romania), soloist of the Romanian National Opera. The conductor will be Nikolay Dogotaru (Moldova), director of the Opera and Ballet Theatre named after M. Bieshu.
In the opera 'Don Giovanni', the role of Donna Elvira will be performed by Natalya Petrozhytskaya (Russia) of the Moscow Academic Music Theatre named after K. S. Stanislavsky and Vl. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko; Don Ottavio by Kirill Zolochevsky from the same theatre; and Zerlina by Alisa Medvedeva (Montenegro), laureate of international competitions.
The festival's guest — Dmitry Vyskubenko (Russia), premier of the Bolshoi Theatre — will perform the role of Solor in 'La Bayadère', while the role of Nikiya will be performed by Shirin Vlasenko, leading soloist of the Alisher Navoi SABT. In the final gala concert, the festival participants will be joined by Oksana Volkova, opera soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.
