Tashkent, Uzbekistan – AN Podrobno.uz. Uzbekistan is proposing to replace a number of foreign terms in its legislation with Uzbek equivalents.
A bill aimed at standardizing the use of legal terms was passed in its first reading. The document is intended to establish a unified approach to words and concepts used in regulatory legal acts.
Specifically, the proposed replacements include: “advance” (avans) to “bunak”, “marking” (markirovka) to “tamg‘alash”, “route” (marshrut) to “yo‘nalish”, “traffic light” (svetofor) to “yo‘lchiroq”, “coworking” (kovorking) to “ish markazi”, “password” (parol) to “o‘rin”, and “progressive” (progressiv) to “ilg‘or”.
The lower house noted that these changes should eliminate discrepancies in the application of concepts and bring them into a unified form. After discussion, deputies supported the bill in its first reading.
It is worth recalling that since March 1, Uzbekistan has introduced mandatory certification in the Uzbek language for foreigners.
