Citizens of Uzbekistan are complaining about the delayed payment of subsidies for electricity generated by solar panels and fed into the common grid. In some cases, accrued funds have not been paid for several months.

Kun.uz editorial office received several appeals over the past week. One applicant from Fergana reported that the subsidy has not been paid since May 25, calling the problem relevant for the entire republic.

The Ministry of Energy stated that this issue falls under the competence of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The Ministry of Economy and Finance said that work is underway and official information will be provided soon.

Since April 1, 2023, Uzbekistan has been implementing the “Solar House” program. Under it, individuals who have installed solar photovoltaic stations with a capacity of up to 50 kWh receive a subsidy of 1,000 soums for each kWh of electricity supplied to the unified energy system beyond their own needs.

The volume of electricity supplied to the grid is recorded by meters, and the accrued amounts are reflected in the “Soliq” mobile app. Although these funds are often called “cashback” by the public, according to the current procedure, they are established as a subsidy.

Earlier, it was reported that the income of Uzbekistanis from selling solar electricity increased 9 times. According to the Tax Committee, in the first quarter of this year, 45,200 individuals sold electricity from solar panels to the grid and received over 73.9 billion soums. Compared to the same period last year, the number of subsidy recipients increased 3.5 times, and the amount of payments increased 9 times.
