According to the Statistics Agency, as of April 1, 2024, Uzbekistan had 109,200 registered electric vehicles. Over the past year, their number increased by 44,000 or 68%.

The majority of electric vehicles are concentrated in Tashkent city — 79,851 units or 73% of the total. A year earlier, the capital had 49,736 EVs, accounting for 76% of the national figure.

Following Tashkent city are Tashkent region (8,194 units) and Samarkand region (4,525 units). Next are Khorezm (3,042), Kashkadarya (2,611), and Fergana (2,231) regions.

The highest relative growth was recorded in Samarkand region, where the EV fleet more than doubled (from 1,739 to 4,525). Khorezm region also saw a more than twofold increase (from 1,415 to 3,042; +115%).

Syrdarya (+97.8%), Kashkadarya (+95.1%), and Navoi (+94.9%) regions experienced nearly double growth. The lowest growth was observed in Bukhara region (+48.7%).

Previously, the president ordered a reduction in loan rates for EV purchases from 23% to 16%, expansion of the charging station network to 4,000, and introduction of benefits for taxi drivers using EVs.

In 2023, out of nearly 80,000 cars imported into Uzbekistan, over 56,000 were electric vehicles.
