The Ministry of Justice has registered Kokand patyr as a geographical indication and entered it into a special register, the press service of the Intellectual Property Agency reported.

“One of the unique examples of Kokand's gastronomic heritage is patyr, distinguished by its unique taste, traditional recipe, and special cooking technology,” the statement said.

It is noted that due to its unique baking method, this type of bread can retain its taste and freshness for several weeks.

Granting geographical indication status will ensure legal protection of the name and traditional production technology, preserve the product's unique characteristics, and strengthen quality guarantees.

A geographical indication is an intellectual property object indicating that a product has special qualities associated with a particular region, its natural, human, and historical features.
