President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan received Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov on July 17 in Tashkent. The guest conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the outset of the meeting.
The talks focused on current issues of further developing Uzbek-Azerbaijani strategic partnership and alliance relations, with special attention to trade and economic cooperation. The dynamics show steady growth: bilateral trade increased by 15% last year and by approximately 40% since the beginning of this year.
Joint cooperation projects are being successfully implemented in development, energy, geology, logistics, finance, fuel, textiles, tourism, and other sectors. The Joint Investment Company is actively financing these projects.
Particular attention was paid to the importance of thorough preparation of the economic agenda for upcoming high-level meetings. In this context, the sides highly appreciated the outcomes of today's sessions of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council, and noted the need to ensure the effectiveness of the planned Forum of Regions of the two countries.
