In the Mirobod district of Tashkent, on February 25, a minor born in 2010 driving a BMW M4 struck a traffic police inspector. Inspector Khosilbek Eshnazarov died in hospital on February 27. On September 18, a court verdict was announced against the minor Doniyor Turgunov, according to the Tashkent city courts.
By the verdict of the Mirobod district court for criminal cases, the defendant Doniyor Turgunov was found guilty of committing a crime under Article 104, Part 3, Clause “d” of the Criminal Code (intentional infliction of grave bodily harm resulting in the death of the victim) and was sentenced to 2 years and 4 months of imprisonment under Article 85 of the Criminal Code (for minors, imprisonment is imposed for a term of one month to ten years).
According to the verdict, the term of serving the sentence is calculated from February 27, 2026, when the measure of restraint “detention” was applied to the defendant. In conclusion, the presiding judge explained to the parties the content of the verdict, the right to apply to court in civil proceedings for compensation of material and moral damage caused by the crime, as well as the deadlines and procedures for appealing the verdict.
The newspaper previously reported that on the evening of February 25, on Nukus Street in central Tashkent, a BMW M4 driven by a 16-year-old schoolboy without a driver's license hit a traffic patrol officer. According to a source in law enforcement, the inspector received a radio message about a car moving with violations and when he tried to take measures to stop it, the accident occurred.
The traffic police officer, junior sergeant Khosilbek Beknazar ogly Eshnazarov, sustained severe injuries and was hospitalized. He did not regain consciousness after the accident and died in hospital. The President posthumously awarded him the “Jasorat” medal. Initially, the Mirobod district prosecutor's office opened a criminal case under Article 266 of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic safety rules resulting in moderate or severe bodily injury). Later, the case was considered under Article 104, Part 3, Clause “d” of the Criminal Code (intentional infliction of grave bodily harm resulting in the death of the victim).
After the incident, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the teenager's parents had previously been brought to administrative responsibility twice. In September 2025, measures were taken due to the student skipping classes, and in January 2026, due to unauthorized driving and gross violation of traffic rules. The MIA also reported that the BMW M4 belongs to Leyla Atadiyanova, born in 2002. According to the agency, since 2024, she has 18 times handed over the vehicle to persons without a driver's license and 37 times committed other gross violations of traffic rules.
After the February accident, the teenager in a video released by the MIA admitted that he had previously received a warning for driving. “Last time the officers warned me. I promised not to drive another car. But I violated the rule again and got behind the wheel. All my actions are wrong. I apologize to the injured officer, to him, his family, and his parents,” he said.
