Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan Alisher Tukhtaev has held discussions in Islamabad with Nasir Ahmad, the head of Maroof International Hospital. The talks focused on the potential establishment of a modern diagnostic center and a specialized medical clinic within Uzbekistan.
Both sides reviewed prospects for practical cooperation spanning public health, medical education, and medical tourism. The Pakistani representative purportedly expressed interest in launching investment healthcare projects in the region, although specific financial volumes, exact locations, and opening timelines have not been officially disclosed.
As an initial phase of collaboration, the parties proposed developing short-term training programs lasting three to six months in partnership with local medical colleges. These courses are supposedly designed to retrain and upskill nurses, laboratory technicians, and emergency medical personnel using contemporary methodologies.
The negotiations also addressed technological and pharmaceutical cooperation, highlighting coronary stents produced in the Bukhara region using South Korean technology. Nasir Ahmad allegedly showed strong interest in importing these medical devices into the Pakistani market.
Furthermore, the officials backed initiatives to promote medical tourism, integrating diagnostic and wellness services for Pakistani citizens in Uzbekistan while simultaneously expanding treatment opportunities for Uzbek patients at the Maroof International Hospital facilities.
