By the end of 2026, Karakalpakstan aims to achieve an 8.1% growth in gross regional product, increase industrial production by 8%, and attract $3.5 billion in foreign investments. Unemployment is projected to decrease to 4.2%, and poverty levels to 3.2%.
These targets are outlined in a decree signed by the President of Uzbekistan on February 21, which took effect on February 28, 2026. The document includes measures to ensure full employment and increase incomes in Nukus, Kungrad, and Chimbay districts, as well as 109 mahallas. Specific initiatives for 90 mahallas in Buzatov, Konlikul, Muynak, and Shumanay districts focus on entrepreneurship development and infrastructure modernization.
Long-term goals until 2030 involve attracting over $5 billion in investments for artificial intelligence technology development and a tenfold increase in the use of cloud and computing centers. The share of renewable energy in total installed capacity is set to rise to 70%, and centralized water supply coverage in settlements to 83.5%.
Additionally, the position of First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan for Ecology and Aral Region Development is abolished, replaced by a new role for efficient pasture use and livestock development.
