A tragic flash flood in the mountainous areas of the Dehkanabad district, Kashkadarya region, has reportedly resulted in a fatality. According to regional emergency services, the sudden natural disaster caught motorists off guard, leading to severe consequences.
The incident occurred on October 13, when heavy rainfall struck the region starting around 5:30 PM. The intense downpour triggered a powerful mudflow that surged through the Shakarbulak village within the Kungrat mahalla, overwhelming local terrain.
Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of a Damas vehicle had lost their way and stopped in a hazardous zone directly in the path of potential water runoff to check directions. Regrettably, the vehicle slipped and plunged into a deep section of the flood channel.
While the driver managed to escape the vehicle in time and attempted to call for help while warning their companion, the raging torrent proved too strong. The violent floodwaters swept away both the vehicle and the passenger trapped inside.
Search and rescue teams, along with local emergency officials, were promptly deployed to the scene. Following extensive search operations, authorities recovered the body of the deceased passenger from the disaster area.
It should be noted that Uzbekistan's hydrometeorological service had previously issued warnings regarding the heightened risk of flash floods and mudflows in mountainous regions across several provinces for October 13–14.
