Uzbekistan authorities are reportedly planning to expand the guaranteed medical care package provided to the population, aiming to increase the number of free medications and diagnostic procedures in the coming years. This initiative was purportedly announced during a high- уровня meeting held on October 27 at the Kuksaroy residence, led by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev alongside healthcare and pharmaceutical sector officials.

According to the announcements, starting in 2027, the guaranteed medical package will allegedly include up to 73 types of free medications, while medical examinations and diagnostic tests will increase to 36 types. Currently, local polyclinics reportedly distribute 69 types of drugs, partially under reimbursement programs. Furthermore, early detection programs for various forms of cancer are slated to expand nationwide by 2028, with a reported annual allocation of 700 billion soms. *

The state leadership also claimed positive results from early detection and treatment programs for heart attacks and strokes implemented across several regions. Authorities intend to allocate an additional 280 billion soms next year to cover all districts and cities. Meanwhile, ongoing reforms in the primary healthcare sector continue as the authorities attempt to address structural challenges within the national medical system.
