The Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) has officially refuted reports circulated by foreign media outlets claiming that national team head coach Fabio Cannavaro is supposedly leaving his position. The association released a statement declaring that such rumors are completely unfounded and do not reflect reality.
Earlier, prominent insider Fabrizio Romano and several other foreign sources published claims suggesting that the Italian specialist might step down following adjustments to the schedule of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. In response, the UFA urged media representatives and football fans to disregard unverified information and rely solely on official announcements.
For context, the UFA signed a contract with Fabio Cannavaro in the autumn of 2025 under a '2+3' format. According to the agreement, the deal could potentially be extended for an additional three years depending on the team's performance at the Asian Cup.
