US authorities view preventing the spread of nuclear weapons in the Middle East as one of the key priorities of foreign policy. This was stated by Vice President JD Vance in an interview with Fox News.

According to him, the emergence of nuclear weapons in Iran could trigger an uncontrolled arms race in the region. Vance emphasized that Washington has already defined "clear red lines" regarding Tehran.

"If Iran obtains nuclear weapons, there will be many other regimes—some friendly, some not so much—that will want to acquire nuclear weapons following them. This would be a disaster for the American people," he said.

Previously, The Wall Street Journal reported that Tehran proposed suspending uranium enrichment and exporting part of its stockpiles abroad, hoping to advance negotiations with the US and reduce the risk of a possible American strike. However, according to the publication, the initiatives do not involve a complete abandonment of the nuclear program, as insisted by US President Donald Trump.

On the same day, it became known about the increase in US military presence in the Middle East. According to media reports, Washington has sent a second aircraft carrier strike group to the region and also deployed over 50 F-35, F-22, and F-16 fighter jets.
