Residents of Uzbekistan have been warned of scorching heat approaching 40 degrees Celsius, along with brief rains and thunderstorms expected this week. However, most of the country will see partly cloudy weather with no precipitation.
According to Uzgidromet, light brief rain with thunderstorms is possible today, June 8, in some areas of Karakalpakstan and Bukhara region.
Tomorrow, June 9, similar conditions are expected in parts of Tashkent region and the Fergana Valley, as well as at night and in the morning in some areas of Kashkadarya and Samarkand regions.
From June 10 to 12, most of Uzbekistan will remain dry, with only the Fergana Valley possibly seeing brief showers and thunderstorms. Brief rains, thunderstorms, and mudflow-flood events are also expected this week in foothill and mountainous areas.
Winds will be easterly at 7–12 meters per second, with gusts up to 13–18 m/s in some places. In desert zones, gusts may reach 20–22 m/s today. Predominant air temperatures will be 32–37°C, reaching up to 39°C in the south.
In Tashkent, today will be dry with temperatures of 35–37°C. Tomorrow may bring light brief rain with thunderstorms. From June 10 to 12, no precipitation is expected. Overnight temperatures in the capital will be 21–23°C, daytime 33–35°C. Dust devils may occur in some areas.
