President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was presented with plans to renovate 17,000 residential buildings built before 1991 and replace them with modern, energy-efficient high-rises with full infrastructure, as reported during a presentation on urban development and housing construction.
Until now, there has been no unified law regulating urban renovation processes. In response, a new bill has been drafted that clearly defines renovation zones, the procedure for obtaining public consent, compensation and relocation processes, investor obligations, and the powers of state bodies.
The renovation programs aim to update dilapidated housing stock, create safe and comfortable living conditions, modernize engineering and communication networks, and expand green areas and social infrastructure.
