Tashkent Metro has launched mother-child rooms and public toilets at the Mustaqillik Maydoni and Bodomzor stations, the metro's press service announced.

The toilet fee is set at 4,000 soums, with operating hours from 07:00 to 22:00. The facilities are equipped with hygiene products and feature signs in three languages for accessibility.

Free access is granted to WWII veterans, disabled persons, children under 7, pensioners, Chernobyl disaster participants, and law enforcement officers upon presentation of a valid ID.

The first such facility opened experimentally at Chilonzor station in February 2022. In early November, a viral video showed a person relieving themselves at a station, sparking public debate about the lack of toilets.

Following the outcry, metro authorities announced plans to install similar facilities at nine stations. Currently, mother-child rooms and toilets are operational at Olmazor, Chilonzor, Paxtakor, Amir Temur, Buyuk Ipak Yoli, Do'stlik, Chorsu, and Beruniy stations.
