Authorities in Samarkand have arrested a man who allegedly attempted to rob a local bank, claiming to possess explosives. The incident was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to officials, on July 13 at 5:00 PM, the security control center of Samarkand region received an alarm from a bank located on Mirzo Ulugbek Street.

Rapid response units arrived at the scene within three minutes. It was determined that a man dressed in winter clothing, wearing a mask and carrying a black bag, entered the bank, claimed to have an explosive device, broke windows, and demanded money.

The control center subsequently dispatched additional rapid response units, specialized services of internal affairs, and ambulance personnel to the location.

Security personnel initially conducted negotiations with the suspect from a distance. As a result of the negotiations, he voluntarily surrendered and was handed over to internal affairs officers.

The Ministry reported that no civilians in the bank were harmed during the incident.

Preliminary information suggests that the adult male aimed to obtain money through easy means.

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 4 of Article 164 of the Criminal Code (Robbery).
