The Tashkent administration has reportedly announced a sweeping initiative to establish micro-forests within residential neighborhoods, between multi-story apartment buildings, and on the grounds of local schools and kindergartens. This ambitious greening scheme, outlined in a decree signed by Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov, aims to radically transform the urban ecosystem amidst ongoing concrete expansion.

Under the newly approved regulations, areas ranging from 200 to 1,000 square meters in densely populated neighborhoods will be densely planted with trees and shrubs. In locations where open soil is unavailable due to extensive asphalt and concrete cover, large plant containers will be installed to create compact public green spaces. District administrations and sponsors are tasked with funding the container installations, while the Forestry Agency is expected to supply quality saplings.

The regulatory framework strictly prohibits the commercial or private exploitation of these newly designated green zones. Authorities explicitly ban transferring these plots into the ownership of individuals or legal entities, as well as constructing any permanent structures on them. Furthermore, public access to these micro-forests must remain completely unrestricted for local residents.

Additional measures include the integration of a 'Tree Balance' module into the 'Yashil makon' platform by January 2028, designed to monitor the geolocation, species, and maintenance status of urban flora. Meanwhile, the city's upcoming autumn tree-planting season is officially scheduled to commence on November 10.
