Reports have emerged of a 13-year-old girl being pregnant in Gijduvon district, Bukhara region. The Children's Ombudsman, Surayyo Rahmonova, confirmed the case.

Preliminary information suggests the girl may have been sexually assaulted by an acquaintance of the family. The pregnancy was detected at 6 months.

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 4 of Article 118 of the Criminal Code (sexual intercourse with a person under 14 years of age). The suspect has been detained and placed in custody as a preventive measure.

The Children's Ombudsman will continue monitoring the case to ensure the legal interests of the minor are protected.
