Uzbekistan, Tashkent – AN Podrobno.uz. Uzbek women were among the leaders in the number of marriages to foreigners concluded in Turkey last year. They took second place after Syrian women, surpassing brides from Morocco, Azerbaijan, and Russia, reports a Podrobno.uz correspondent.
According to the Turkish Statistical Institute, 28,646 foreign women married in the country in 2025. Syrian citizens accounted for 13.8% of marriages. Uzbek women came in second with a minimal gap – 13.7%, which in absolute numbers is approximately 3,925 people.
Third place was taken by brides from Morocco (9.6%). The top five also included citizens of Azerbaijan (6.8%) and Russia (5.7%).
Among foreign grooms who started families in Turkey (a total of 5,347 people), Syrians (20.9%) and Germans (18.8%) lead. Uzbek men did not make it into the top ten most popular foreign grooms.
The number of marriages to foreigners has been steadily increasing for several years in Uzbekistan as well. It was previously reported that in the first six months of 2021, 0.3 thousand such marriages were registered in the country. In 2022, the number rose to 1.9 thousand, in 2023 it was 1.8 thousand, and by 2025 it reached 3.4 thousand.
