The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution titled "Supporting a Sustainable Peace in Ukraine" on the four-year anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion. On February 24, 107 countries voted in favor of the document affirming Ukraine's sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.

12 countries, including Russia and Belarus, voted against the resolution. 51 countries abstained, among them Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, as well as the US, China, India, and South Africa.

The resolution calls for an immediate ceasefire, full exchange of prisoners of war, release of all unlawfully detained persons, and return of civilians to Ukraine. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha welcomed the adoption.

The US proposed separate voting on certain clauses but this was not supported, after which Washington abstained. Russia's Permanent Representative Vassily Nebenzia stated that Western countries are hindering diplomatic resolution of the conflict.

According to an updated joint assessment, nearly $588 billion will be required for Ukraine's reconstruction over the next decade.
