A gas explosion occurred in an apartment building in Kokand, Fergana Region, on February 25. The incident resulted in the death of a 19-year-old resident who was crushed by a collapsed concrete slab.

The investigative department of the 2nd regional territory of the Fergana Region Internal Affairs Directorate has opened a criminal case under Article 259, Part 2, Clause "a" of the Criminal Code (violation of fire safety rules resulting in death). The case is under the supervision of the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Investigative work is underway to determine the cause of the explosion and examine the scene. A joint investigative-operational group has been established at the site on the instruction of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Ramazon Ashrapov.

Recall that another gas explosion occurred in a Kokand apartment building on February 16, injuring four people, one of whom later died in hospital.
